As developed by Larry Schultz, Rocket Yoga is the original Power Yoga, developing way before the fad became popular. This is our most athletic offering however each class exploration and play are encouraged. Rocket can be modified for any level of student. But if you are wondering why a yoga studio doesn’t have “power yoga” listed. You have got to try this!
Rocket I – This sequence is known as “long and strong” and focuses on stretching and strengthening the legs and joints using a combination of standing and balancing postures, seated postures and forward folds. Inversions and rocket splits and abs will be visited as always. This is a great sequence to start the week out with.
Note about The Rocket System: The Rocket was developed by the loving and late Larry Schultz. It came to be after he studied Ashtanga under Sri Pattabhi Jois for seven years and toured with the Grateful Dead, teaching them yoga. Bob Weir wanted to try more advanced poses and Larry began changing the sequencing, encouraging humor and play. Bob Weir named Larry’s yoga “Rocket Yoga, because it gets you there faster”. The goal is to get in touch with the inner teacher, and silence our inner critic. Rocket yoga is meant to be fun, challenging, and playful. Make sure to bring your sense of humor to the mat. 🙂
