Maddie Avillar is an Entertainment and Media Studies major at UGA. She was introduced to yoga by her parents, who started going when she was 11 years old. Immediately, yoga became a fun way to spend time with family, and during high school, it was a way for Maddie to stay flexible for cross country. In 2020, after being sent home early from college due to the pandemic, Maddie reconnected with yoga. It was instrumental in her journey with self-acceptance after years of disordered eating and anxiety around exercise. Because of this, Maddie was inspired to take a Yoga Teacher Training to learn more about the spiritual and historical context for yoga. In 2021, Maddie received her 200hr Vinyasa certification at Ember Hot Yoga, and she taught community classes there before moving to Athens. She is so excited to be a part of M3 Yoga, and she hopes that her classes will uplift, empower, and inspire the M3 community!
