When did you start practicing yoga and why?
I started consistently practicing yoga in 2015. I wanted to be more in my body and less in my head. I was trying out several different workouts at the time and yoga is the one I went back to over and over again.
What’s your favorite yoga style?
You know, I think the teacher is more important to me than style. I love anything that lets me move in a new and exciting way—playful classes and teachers—but I also love a style that helps me relax and settle and become less reactive.
How long have you taught yoga? What inspired you to teach?
I started teaching yoga in 2016. I wanted to deepen my understanding of yoga and yogic philosophy. I used to teach school-age kids, so teaching wasn’t new to me, but guiding students through yoga can be totally different. During my training I had to do observations, and I would tear up at the end of every class because of the visceral change in the students afterward. I would be able to give that gift.
What’s your advice to someone who is new to yoga?
Everyone always suggests trying yoga for a reason! You don’t need to warm up or be flexible or know any of the sanskrit. Go for two weeks, see how you progress physically and mentally, and then report back
What is your favorite pose?
I love arm balances because they’re like party tricks, but my favorite is half-moon ardha chandrasana.
What’s your favorite class to teach at M3? Favorite to take?
I love teaching Flow & Restore! I love picking the music, the postures, and seeing everyone release. I love to take the Power360 class, as well as Rocket II because they both kick my butt!
What do you enjoy most about M3?
I love the community of people. I feel like my students are my friends. Everyone talks to each other; it’s such a lovely atmosphere.
