When did you start practicing yoga and why?
I dabbled in yoga back in the 1990s, but my regular practice really took hold in 2007.  Yoga got me back into my body after childbirth and helped me realign my mind following postpartum depression.

What’s your favorite yoga style?
I love all styles of yoga, but right now, I’m madly in love with yin yoga in particular.

How long have you taught yoga? What inspired you to teach?
I began teaching yoga in 2012 as a way to help others become more at ease in their own bodies and to take ownership of their own health and well-being. It is my ultimate goal to demystify yoga and to show how accessible it can be to anyone open to its transformative powers.

What’s your advice to someone who is new to yoga?
Jump right in! Try out some classes; find a teacher who resonates with you; tell them you’re new and watch their eyes light up with joy as they welcome you to the practice. Listen to your body and don’t push yourself too hard. You’ve got the rest of your life to explore the practice. There’s no rush to get to the next level.

What is your favorite pose?
My favorite pose changes with the day, maybe even the hour, but right now, it would be matsyasana (fish pose).  The heart and throat opening aspects of this pose light me up from the inside and impart such a feeling of expansiveness and joy.

What’s your favorite class to teach at M3? Favorite to take?
My favorite class to teach right now is Candlelight Yin. The atmosphere is so nurturing, and there is such a sense of community within the shared practice. My favorite class to take is one that is brand new to me: Rocket! It is so outrageously fun. I love a challenge.

What do you enjoy most about M3?
M3 is so inclusive and joyful. From the owners to the fellow teachers to the students—who show up day in and day out—the atmosphere is always supportive and fun, and I just can’t get enough of it.
